Hands of Fatima Watercolor Painting
The Goddesses Fatima is an ancient Goddess. Her Legends date back before 622 c.e in Pre-Islamic times of the Middle East.
Her titles are Great Goddess of the Moon and fate; Source of the Sun; Tree of Paradise; She Who existed from the beginning of the material world; Queen of heaven; Occupier of the seat of Dominion; Illuminator; She Who separates light from darkness; 'the Red-Cow Who suckles all the children of earth'; She Who is the Center of the genealogical mystery.
She was adopted by the Islamic faith and in some stories She is Mohammed‘s wife or She is his daughter.
Her most well known symbol is the Khamsa, Hamsa which has different meaning depending on the area and Religion. The Hamsa Hand is an symbol of good luck, good fortune, good health, happiness, and protection from the Evil Eye.
If the Hamsa Hand faces downwards, then the Hamsa represents an abundance of goodness.
It becomes a welcoming sign that invites good things into our life, including good luck, good fortune, good health, and happines
In this position, the fingers are generally close together, as a sign of invitation for good luck.
When the five fingers of the Hamsa Hand are pointing up, the Hamsa will protect the wearer from negativity and harm from others.
It will also help control the wearer’s own negative emotions, fears, greed, hatred, and insecurities. The fingers may also be spread apart as a sign meant to repel evil.
I was inspired to paint the Goddess Fatima after I led a Ritual for Her. I also was inspired by several artists that took the traditional symbol of Hand of Fatima and recreated the hands and symbols. I have been working on this painting for over a year. This painting has helped me heal and explore parts of myself and learn more about the Middle East where the Goddess Fatima is from.
Make it stand out.
